That NEW Adage

A pressure-relief valve about God, and just about everything else.

If They Think THIS is Bad, Wait Till GOD Gets His Hands on ‘Em!

Okay, let’s see where we are: Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer, Eddie Long, Kenneth Copeland, and Paula White are being investigated by the senate finance committee.

I wonder if they feel like the mafia felt when the U.S. government turned the full force of its wrath on them… I wonder if they are getting their lies I mean stories straight and lining up their ecstatically ignorant supporters with tales of persecution and such. I can hear the accountant’s papers shuffling, and the cell phone keypads tapping. And shredders are growling and regurgitating from being hastily overfed like my boy, Max does when I find myself in too much of a hurry to get him through eating so I can get back to watching “ESPN’s First Take.”

“The Rolls was a GIFT.”

“The mansion belongs to the chu’ch!”

“I need a 10 million dollar jet! I’m too bizzy to fly commercial.”

“This cosmetic surgery was just to clear up some… waitaminnit! WHAT cosmetic surgery?”

“I have a particular hip problem, and my research showed that only a 23,000 dollar john would get to the butt of the issue. Besides, the Bible says that we are the head, but why shouldn’t the tail be well taken care of, too?”

“I ain’ gotta anser to tha world about God’s bizzniss! My sheep know my vo-ice!” (Yeah, but I bet your sheep can’t get a meeting with you, or ride in that jet, or visit that gated mansion!)

I can just hear all of the pimpish game they will perpetrate against those who follow them and who shout loudly, “Lalalalalalalalala” to keep the truth from crawling into their ears. They will create a siege environment like Jim Jones and David Koresh did where the “world” is trying to destroy the good work and prosperous living of God’s people.

Here is the punch line, though; If they think THIS investigation is intrusive and punitive, wait until they “getta loada” what God has in store for them! The GUBment only wants to know where the money went. GOD is concerned about

Every detail!

They have led millions away from the TRUE gospel. One which does NOT focus on the accumulation of wealth, but on the emptiness, the broken body, the shed blood of Christ. For this it is said that it will have been better for them if John Gotti had fitted them with cement boots and dumped them into a river. Direct quote…

They have loved money rather than the Savior. They have taught others to do so.

They have demoted God, and in some strange, cosmic mutiny, promoted man to His captaincy.

They have ineptly wielded the Sword of the Word of God and sliced up the souls of multitudes, many of whom are dead, gone, and unable to hit the reset button.

God alone knows the rest of what they have done. And there are dozens, even thousands more unnamed crooks who do the same and worse.

The judgment of a senate committee is nothing compared to the Omnipotent Panel of One that awaits those who use the Bible as a Player’s Handbook in order to manipulate the finances– and souls– of so many. This same judge will evaluate us in the same manner if we eschew the Love of and service to Christ in favor of selfish pleasure.

So, Klepto Dollar, Bentley Hinder, Joyce Mirer, Eddie Long(money), Kenneth (can’t)Copeland, Paula White(washed sepulcre), it looks like you will be getting a small, small preview of what may be in store for you if you remain in your current state. As for Fred (pay the) Price, Paul Crouch(ing wolf), Joel Ovaltine and the rest of you, you obviously don’t fear the God you defame, so maybe fear of the government hammer, public disgrace and financial devastation will make you stop victimizing the weak and unlearned.

It is not with glee, but with a feeling of impending justice being meted, that I ask, in the words of that illustrious theologian, T.O.:

“You gotcho popcone reddy?”

  2. I can’t speak for the others, and I’m not a Joyce Meyer fan, but the “commode” of Joyce Meyer is not a toilet, but an antique chest of drawers someone donated and is sitting in the lobby of her office. Apparently that is only a appraised value made during their regular audit.

  6. Thanks for the humorous but honest assessment of these ministries. It is criminal and has spread to other continents such As Africa. May God forgive all of us for not correcting these ministers face to face. My heart goes out to all of the dissapointed and dissalusioned Christians who have fed from this poison and given to these ministries.

    Good work

I guess that means you’d have to shut your mouth first! 8. You’re right.

I think that if their ministries were to come crashing down, maybe they, having been stripped to the core, would seek the one TRUE God from their “sickbeds”, so to speak.

But you are absolutely correct. We must avoid feeling a sense of self-righteousness, for we all sin. I can at times get caught up in seeing justice done and in seeing weak people helped and not victimized. These hucksters are souls whom God loves. They need to STOP, though!

  11. My name is Chad and I am an employee at Joyce Meyer Ministries. I came across your post via Google.

I often seem to be the bearer of bad news (due to my position in software development) and unfortunately, this is no different. I cannot speak for what happens at the other five ministries, but at JMM, it has been business as usual. The only “emergency” that has been kicked off by this investigation was to update our website homepage to make our financial information easier to access. The ministry’s financials have been available via the web for as long as I am aware of. A message addressing the Senate inquiry, as well as information about the letter JMM received from the IRS less than a month ago, have been added.

There is no panic, and there are no “emergency procedures” in place. Our shredders are quiet. No one has cried “Victim!” No siege environment to speak of. In fact, quite the opposite. We’ve been encouraged by management to do exactly what I’m doing right now–engage in the conversation, and (as always) be honest in what we say.

There’s a reason we aren’t in any sort of panic mode…we don’t have anything to hide.

Also, to set the record straight, we welcome visitors, and even offer tours of our facilities. Anyone is welcome to visit us during normal bookstore hours, with some exception.

I am Presbyterian, and like most of my co-workers, I do not attend the church that Joyce initially worked at. I do not entirely agree with everything Joyce says, but I also believe that she is often mis-quoted or taken out of context, when it comes to some of her preaching. I’d also agree that she has said a few things that might make one raise an eyebrow. But then again, who hasn’t, especially out of those who nearly always have a microphone in front of them? Overall, though, I have tremendous respect for what she does: first, bringing the Word to so many people everyday, and second, speaking in a matter-of-fact, and no-holds-barred manner about problems and idiosyncracies people encounter in their lives. Joyce is the only preacher I recall ever saying, “Quit feeling so sorry for yourself and do something about it.” Her message, in my opinion, is part Biblical, and part motivational.

Despite if you like her message or not, she brings people to Jesus. I struggle with how any Christian can see this as a bad thing. I further struggle with the idea of a Christian suggesting these people be murdered, and further that a pastor would only marginally rebuke someone for suggesting such a fate!

I’m not even sure how to classify the judgement that has been passed on these people already, by people with virtually no information. rates JMM as 3 stars, with a score of 80 of 100. A score of 81 would give JMM a 4 star rating. JMM’s transparency rating is “C”.

82% of JMM donations go to outreach and Gospel programming expenses. recognizes a charity that uses 80% or more of its donations towards its charitable cause as “good.” We strive to increase that value every day.

I don’t share the mindset that Joyce, and likely at least some of the others targeted by this inquiry, is a swindler. I know Joyce is sincere in her desire to reach Every Nation, Every City, Every Day with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I do appreciate your taking the time to respond to what I wrote. Though I believe in what I put down, I often try to use humor and irony to make my point at times. So the shredder references and such were to that end. I have apparently been corrected (I guess) about the $23,000 toilet. I have no problem admitting errors.

As far as her teaching though, the problem I have with it is that she espouses the Word of Faith doctrine, which is unbiblical to say the least.

She teaches positive confession. Unbiblical. Heretical.

She says that Jesus went to hell to complete the atonement, as well as some other things which should do more than just raise an eyebrow. Though she has apparently had some dubious financial dealings, her teachings are potentially much more harmful and erroneous. If you highlight the following link, you will see in clearer detail what I mean.

As for advocating murder… I’m in the dark about that one.
Unless you mean my Gotti reference… That was an up-to-date take on the passage where Jesus said that it would be better for a deceiver to have a millstone tied around his neck and thrown into the sea rather than lead one of His children astray. I figured Christians knew the reference.

We are told in the Bible to judge not self-righteously, but by a right standard. The Bible is that standard. If one’s teachings are at odds with Scripture, they can and should be rebuked. I don’t make these assessments based on what I would do, but on what GOD says in His Word for us to do. She may well be sincere, but in many crucial ways, she is sincerely wrong.

Good works without Christ are nothing. Period. Mob guys hand out turkeys on Thanksgiving. Drug dealers buy gifts for ghetto kids on Christmas. Godless rappers donate to charities. Shoot, HITLER gave us the autobahn and the Volkswagen!! “Only what you do for Christ will last.”
If you do good deeds yet rob and deceive people in God’s name, you have done WAY less than nothing.

The deeds these people allegedly do usually are but a drop in the bucket compared to the millions they rake in based on lies!

Some gambling proceeds go to education, but consider that the people who buy lottery tickets and such, are ill-able to afford to do so. Lottery winners collect the pennies of gambling addicts and poor old folks. I would not want to enrich myself from the misery of another, and I would not want a DOLLAR from Creflo. In his current manner of earning it.

  15. I for one have been watching Joyce Meyer, periodically, for years. I have never sent her a dime. Unlike many, I have never bought any of her material. However, her televised lectures have been just as inspiring as many who have voiced their opinions. Say what you may, her philosophical words and opinions have been laced with “common sense” and are applicable to everyday living. Her audiences seem to identify with what she says. I know I have. I refuse to judge Joyce Meyer. Say what you may, it’s all in what anyone does with what she says. I, for one, have been able to apply her words to my life. It’s worked for me. Her words of wisdom came when I needed them the most, just Like Oprah’s, Dr. Phil’s, Deepak Chopra’s, Iyanla Vanzant’s and many others who have lived over the centuries. If it makes sense, then why not try to apply it to your situation. As far as her doctrine being heretical, didn’t they say that about Martin Luther? Isn’t he the Father of Protestant Doctrine? Back in his day, The Religious leaders wanted him killed. Had they been successful in squashing his “heretical comments,” many of you would not be here complaining about Ms. Meyer misquoting “scripture.” You would be off to daily Mass.

  16. Also,

“Good Things” are meaningless, if you lead people away from “The Good Shepherd”. Yes, many of these ministers have “done good things”. But I guess we have to go to the verse that operates, like a stun gun: Matt 7:22. Read it, and weep. Or at least, take note.

We don’t get into heaven, based on the good things we do. Good works are the fruit of our faith. Our faith is what separates us from the non-believer, who does wonderful things, but is still hell-bound. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Do “good” all you want. But there is still the dilemma of trying to be as “good” as the only Good One: God. It always comes back to Jesus.

The Gospel totally gets lost, and that’s why so many church members can’t tell you what salvation is, how one obtains it, and why we can’t possibly work to “earn” it. They can tell you how to “sow a seed” in their Bishop’s seed fund. But if Jesus asked, “Why should you get past My gate?”, they would stare blankly, or start speakin’ in tongues, or start runnin’ around the gate, tryna get it to open.

These are the SAME folks, who try to get answers on spiritual things (on carnal message boards), from those who spiritually…dead. Go figure.

I hope Joel Osteen’s members can find somewhere, in all that “positivity” and all those great analogies, a message of Christ, crucified.

  18. LadyS,
it is not enough to simply “inspire” people when you claim to be sending forth the Word of God and leading people into His eternal presence.

Okay. Her words and philosophical approach speak to you. Fine. Charles Barkley’s homespun wisdom speaks to me. Michael Jordan’s work ethic and physical prowess inspire me. Stevie Wonder’s lyrical genius and relevance blow me away. Do I trust them to teach me what “Thus sayeth the Lord?” No.

When you put Meyer in the same category as Oprah, Chopra, Vanzant, you do an interesting thing… You all but admit that her teaching is not of the Word of God, for the rest of that group CERTAINLY do not practice the “Historic Christian Faith!”

If you are spiritually mature enough to decipher Meyer’s truth from GOD’S truth, then do so. But many, if not MOST of today’s “Christians” cannot. That is a big problem.

As for Martin Luther, the determination of whether he was a heretic or not does not rest with the Catholic church who taught that the pope was infallible, and who told people that they could BUY their loved ones out of purgatory. That among a HOST of other untruths.

That determination is made through adherence to Scripture.

The same is true for Meyer and anyone else in the world. It is not my opinion, but the Word of God, accurately interpreted, which acquits or convicts.

  19. The supposed followers of Jesus have somehow been able to turn the Master’s message on its head. While Jesus stressed to give to the poor, the prosperity preachers have the poor giving to them, and that giving is in abundance. Jesus, the gospels claim had nowhere to lay his head, yet the prosperity folks live in unchained opulence. So much so, the stench of this hypocrisy has now come before the Congress of the United States. Under the guise of claiming prosperity for their flock, these contemporary Elmer Gantry’s have hoodwinked their followers with the slickest of promotions and entertainment. These chiselers also gain much of their monies by the selling of tapes and CD’s through their unabashed infomercials, teaming with the rest of the late-night infomercial hucksters. This garbage of spiritual self-help and wealth claiming propaganda videos and recordings are typically reworded and redone and sold again the very next year. They claim that their followers can find the same wealth by giving just a small amount, like a seed. Then this seed will grow into large tree of wealth. Unfortunately, the prosperity and wealth has only fallen to the likes of Paula White of the Without Walls International Church, Benny Hinn of World Healing Centre Church Inc., Joyce Meyer of Joyce Meyer Ministries, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland of Kenneth Copeland Ministries, and Creflo Dollar.

  21. If a wolf had YOU in his mouth, I’d want him to stop, too! THAT’S what this is all about. I’m not programmed. I’m in the lifelong process of educating myself as to what “thus sayeth the Lord,” and even a casual reading of the Bible, sprinkled with a little common sense should tell you that Christianity is not about “storing up for yourselves treasures here on Earth, where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break in and steal,” but as you CORRECTLY state, a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Who taught you that? About a relationship? I bet THEY didn’t! I see them all the time, and while they may SAY the word, they surely don’t exemplify it! They teach you to get next to God so you can get His STUFF! They don’t teach love for Him, but love for what He HAS!

I don’t judge their actions from a self-righteous position of how good and upright I am, which I am not, but from the standard of Scripture! Which they violate by distorting the nature of God, and His Word.

No, I am not saying that God wants everybody poor, either, which is the fake straw-man canard that they throw up all the time!

But, once again, Earthly riches are never the Christian’s focus.

My problem with them is their faulty, false doctrine, which they USE to separate the weak from their resources!

I don’t want them to die and go to hell! I want them to quit victimizing people. And come to a true and saving faith. Preach the mere Christianity, and not the twisted version which appeals to the greed of so many people.

I hope I am clear here.

  22. It cost Jesus everything to preach the good news of the Kingdom of God. It came at great cost to Paul and Peter and John and so many countless others in the earliest years of the Church. The “cost” to the early church was in the form of suffering, disrepute and even death. “Cost” has taken on a whole new meaning in modern-day Christianity. It has become a vain and worthless word. It is no longer attached to Passion and Desire for the Lord and others. It simply means “payment of money”. Now, in modern-day Christianity, the “cost” isn’t in picking up your cross daily…it has been reduced to a simple “money exchange for services and goods”. Much like those who sold sacrifices to people entering the Temple. It was all quite convenient. Don’t worry about saving the best of what you have to bring as a sacrifice to God…we’ll do the work and simply charge you money in exchange so we can continue to provide this service. I’m always so disappointed when I hear someone on television preaching the Word of God only to find out that they have given the listener 5 of the 10 steps God has shown them. The listener is then offered an opportunity to give a gift for the remaining 5 steps. The gift is always money. The crazy thing though is that the listener is willing to let the speaker/preacher/”icon”-in-some-cases do the work for them and then simply pay a price to get it second-hand. Wouldn’t God speak to them as well if they were to search for Him with all their heart? Again, kind of like the picture we have of what was going on in the Temple in the days Jesus walked the earth. Where was/is the passion? The desire for God Himself?! The first-hand experience of a life-changing RELATIONSHIP with God that extends beyond this present world?! Where is the desire for the Kingdom of God?!! It’s as though Believers have forgotten it even exists. Jesus’ example was giving up His own life here for the sake of the listener. He spoke of the Kingdom of God time and time again. It was His Passion to have us there with Him! He had no place in this world to lay His head. No Bentley, no jet, no expensive clothing or home or cosmetic surgery to look good for the crowds. What was His joy? It was the joy set before Him that helped Him endure the cross. What joy? A kingdom here? Possessions and prestige here? No, I think the joy that lay before Him was the understanding that if He chose to die for us, to take up His cross here, the Father would raise Him from the dead as the Acceptable Sacrifice for our sins…and He knew we could THEN live with Him in the Kingdom of God forever. We could live with Him where He lives. Modern-day Christianity (that which has attached itself to the earth-bound prosperity doctrine) is showing us the example of kingdoms HERE. Lavishing upon oneself expensive houses and cars and treasures that will only last here. This is a counterfeit. A perversion of Truth. Don’t store up your treasures here! This is not the place!!! Lavish what you are given by God on others…give to those you come across on your every day journey who are in need…share YOUR drink with the thirsty, YOUR food with the hungry, YOUR clothing with the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned YOURSELF. Modern-day Christianity encourages us to let ministries do this for us. All we have to do is send them money. That is the extent of our sacrifice. Again, it sounds like the passionless sacrifices Jesus observed in the Temple. And we recall that He Passionately drove those money-changers out of the Temple and reminded men that the Temple was to be a house of prayer. The Gospel does not teach us to make store houses for ourselves here. It teaches us to be IMPASSIONED lovers of God and our neighbor.

Do not to walk by the flesh and gain the whole world! Walk by the spirit and exchange finite counterfeits for infinite pleasures! Your Lover, your Lord is not here! He is in the kingdom of God making a place for you!

  27. One of the main problems in the life of many believers is, that they look at thier Pastors who are meer men or women, as if they are the Lord himself. This is a big mistake. The Lord’s church is not a building, or man or woman in the pulpit, it is within the heart of the true believer, who has faith and trust in Christ. Many believers do not read their Bibles on a daily basis, nor do they have a real personal relationship with God. Therefore, it makes it hard for them to identify a false prophet. A church is a place to fellowship with other beleiver’s, not to put their Pastor’s on a pedestal, as if they would our Heavenly Father. When you have a personal relationship with God, He will reveal those to you that are lying in His name. I have been able to identify the real prophets of the Lord and those who are false in advance and have not missed a beat. I will not mention their names or ministries, because the final analysis and their fate belongs to God. However, it is sad because they will not go unpunished for lying in the name of the Lord (Jeremiah 29:20-24). I pray that any believer who has been hurt and deceived by a false prophet, that he/she will seek the Lord in prayer and develop a personal relationship with Him. I guarantee you if you do this, you will reap a tremendous gift. The Lord will not only guide you to the right church, where only His truth prevails, but you will be able to hear His voice in clearity, to guide you in the right direction in every part of your life. Of course this does not mean you will not still go through the trials and tribulations of life, but what it does mean is that the Lord will give you the strength and power of the Holy spirit to deliver you from them all.

  28. I must say I just stumbled across this blog and it’s a great “Christian” debate. Agree!! Everyone is not bad. However I have learned that God can be pretty clear.
The example is in Jeremiah 23:

23:1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.
23:2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.
23:3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
23:4 And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.

I just personally watch a church be destroy on a smaller scale from lack of integrity. It gonna trickle down to smaller churches. GOD IS FEED UP!

23:40 And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.

  31. Kenneth Copeland put on a excellent performance at his latest ministers conference held on January 22,2008 visible at , which has now gotten the attention of people all across the USA, and abroad. The message he was unmistakably sending, came across loud and clear on every subject he was addressing. From voicing his personal feelings about the senate investigation, to a multitude of other issues facing KCM. Surprisingly, Kenneth does admit to some element of truth in the letter KCM received from the Senate, but did not go into any detailed explanations. Also in his defense, he makes the accusation that the truth is being twisted a bit. A old saying comes to mind , what comes around goes around. Years of promoting the promises of prosperity, physical healing, and last but not least the twisting of biblical scripture for personal gain has returned to KCM full circle.
“ I had a home“, “I had a life“, “I had faith“, “I had a family“, “I lost a loved one“, these are merely a handful of endless testimonies coming to light nationwide. Ranging from all walks of life, their heartbreaking testimonies can be found throughout the web, yet inconceivably, victims are being labeled as fools, ignorant, and basically downright blind for not seeing the truth behind the Prosperity Gospels falsehoods. Being only human, our quest for health and wealth, regrettably does lead some in the wrong direction. Promises and guaranties, made by the Prosperity Gospel ministers, give people that have not obtained these blessings on their own, a second chance at achieving their goals in life. An important discovery I made while reviewing testimonies, revealed the fact numerous victims had very little knowledge of the Prosperity Gospels dark side. These unfortunate victims, appear to be equipped with only a small portion of the web of deceit these ministers weave . For example, picture yourself being raised in a small country town, with a population of only a few hundred, the closest city, only a population of only a few thousand. Computers, internet, cable, satellite TV, and other high tech gadgets are not needed or desired. This was my life, before KCM.
Prosperity Gospel ministers enter the homes of many victims though a thirty minute Sunday morning worship service on a local broadcast station. Myself, growing up in Jigger La., truly located in the middle of nowhere, I can testify to the fact that we only received on a clear day about three or four channels at most. Therefore warnings of the numerous dangers, and intentional deceit, associated with Prosperity Gospel ministries, being made by critics, ministers, and victims went unheard by many. The irony of this are the many warning labels we all encounter every day. From cleaning supplies to over the counter medications, labels posted on various products warn us of the dangers associated with that particular product. Regrettably Prosperity Gospel does not offer this, but should! Family’s have lost their homes, lifesavings, and some even their lives to the Prosperity Gospel.
Unfortunately my mother was not one of the lucky ones, her confidence, and faith in this false Gospel, ultimately cost her, her life. After more than a decade of programming her mind to believe and think the Prosperity Gospel way of life, she lost her battle with cancer. By refusing medical attention, she sealed her fate, but the programming she had acquired from Kenneth and Gloria Copeland proved strong all the way to her last breath. A diary she left behind revealed the horrific tale of her life from 1992-2002, the top of each page titled with Kenneth Copeland, Gloria Copeland, or BVOV. Some mistakes in life we can not undo, and good intentions don’t always go as planed, these victims are simply following misleading promises of health and wealth. Their use of miraculous healing confessions, and newly found wealth testimonies, are their sales pitch, my mother among others, are proof that their sale pitch does work. The possibility of certain Mega churches misusing contributors finances for their own personal luxuries is ultimately what brought this scam to the publics attention, not the loss of life, the financially bankrupt, nor the numerous homeless victims that have been left in the wake of this devastating hoax.
Knowledge, is the only discovery I found to be effective in this seemingly endless battle. Sadly for some our efforts will go unheard. As for my family, once again I am addressing another envelope to Kenneth Copeland Ministries, asking once again for a summery of my mothers (Bonnie Parker) contributions to KCM, and since they have bankrupt our family also due to the numerous expenses we encountered before and after mom’s death, and once more, ask them to purchase a headstone for mom. I believe they at least owe her that much.

  33. I have read many blogs and have identified with many of the things written. I was a devout WOF member for 19 years through a local church. Babe in Christ learning about the goodness of my newfound Lord. When I came into this faith simple tithes/offerings were preached and God was to open the windows of heaven. Seemed like those windows were divinely shut cause I never received one dime based on the fact that I had given tithes/offereings. I studied the bible according to how WOF taught me to study it. I guess WOF ministers weren’t getting enough money just collecting regular tithes/offerings they began to preach that your harvest is really based on how much offerings you give and not your tithe cause the tithe is God’s anyway. Then came the seed-faith giving. If it don’t meet the need then it’s a seed. I loved and still love God with all my heart. This teaching abused me and my family to the degree of poverty. Popular WOF ministers instructed me that if I had to choose between paying tithes and paying a bill I need to tithe first. This logic that I followed jacked me up in all sorts of ways. I cannot even describe fully the losses I’ve incurred financially because of following this doctrine. I can tell you tons of bad experiences I had with my church that I was devoutly committed to because they trained me to believe that being faithful to them was being faithful to God. Anything opposite would be disobedient. Who wants to disobey God? That’s why sooooo many people hold them up in such high regard. No one would hold a normal human being in such high regards unless you are somehow convinced that this person holds some type of divine position. They play on this from old testament prophets and put themselves in positions of authority and preach that if we want anything from God we have to go through them. It sounds like one would ask why didn’t you see it was a fraud? Because it’s not given to you that way all at once. It’s done slowly and disguised as teaching us how to grow in Christ. It’s mixed with many truths and laced with tidbits of poison. I wish I could write of the stories I experienced. I love God to this day but I will not attend another church until I’m sure God Himself shows it to me. I struggled the entire time I was a WOF member and was too embarassed to ask for help b/c in WOF circles you don’t have faith if you gotta ask. My spouse died and I was left to raise my daughter alone. The church that I was so devoutly committed to offered me no financial assitance. I’ve worked all my life to be a productive citizen but their philosophy was GIVE GIVE GIVE. I gave until I had to file bankruptcy tryn to get a “BREAKTHROUGH”. But the day God opened my eyes I would not have ever seen what he showed me. I saw that they did not care for me. I was a good slave as long as I did whatever I was told. When I could not give anymore they told me I was cursed. But I thank God that I’m on my way to recovery from this abusive relationship I had with the church and I now see my Father God in a different light. I’m not afraid if I don’t give my money to a preacher that God is mad at me. Believe me after being programmed with this doctrine for 19 years there is much fear of leaving these ministries. But I took my daughter and ran like Tina ran from Ike when she finally realized he was gonna kill her one day. My insides were bruised just like her face was in that movie. It’s been 2 years and I’ve come soooo far in my thinking. To anyone whose been damaged by WOF: Keep moving and praying to God. He will lead you out. It won’t be the easiest road to travel but nevertheless it will be the best in the long run.
